As wee keep getting closer to hunting season lets think about What Is In Your Back Pack? What do you need versus what you want or think you need for a day in the field. Have you put all your goodies in your pack and made a couple trips around the block - even a good mile with it on and wearing your hunting boots and clothes. Yes the neighbors may stare, but what does your body tell you when you get back home? Do your shoulders hurt, lower back a little achy - well think about carrying that pack for a full day, and imagine how you will feel then. So... Think about what you NEED and lighten that load.
We have seen it all ... you don't need a complete change of clothes, you don't need 4-5 knives, you don't need the entire Cabelas camping or survival section.
Just because your back pack has more space doesn't mean you need to stuff something extra in there...
Our Recommended Basics:
Extra Rifle Shells or Broadheads (Depending on your hunt)
Flashlight & Headlamp
Matches & Lighter (if you fly in - we have packets for you)
1 or 2 knives (3-5 inch blades are perfect)
10-15 foot of nylon rope or paracord
Small bottle of scent away
We know you still want to bring that emergency blanket, extra gloves, a second hat, your favorite hoodie, the huge bottle of scent away spray or the one that makes you smell like dirt, or those extra knives you bought, plus the other gadgets and gizmos from your last trip to the sporting goods store and that is fine if it gives you the security you need to have a great hunt, just remember - make sure you can carry that load each and every day of your hunt.
